I've been boating for a million years and by far the best thing that I've found for clearing out a plugged up pee hole for your outboard is a small piece of weed eater line. It is the perfect strength to clear out any blockage from trash getting sucked up in your outboard and will not damage the outboard or water line. Standing in the back of your boat at the transom, there is a small black rubber hose with a garden hose adapter on it. It is near the base of the cowling... unscrew it and screw in a flush kit without the motor running.... run it for 5 minutes or whatever the instructions tell you. I probably put close to 3 hours on the engine.(between fishing of course) No alarms and ran great. One thing I noticed while stopping occasionally and checking the water temperature coming out the water indicator hole was that the exhaust just under the pee-hole was extrememly hot, too hot to touch for more than a second, in fact. EDIT: So they told me wrong the first time. It's not the water heater they have to refill, it's their steam boiler. They're in the northeastern US so have steam boilers for heat. Nov 17, 2009 · I recently bought a boat with a 96 Mercury 150HP outboard on it. When i run it or just fire it up in the drive way with the water hose the water from the pee hole is very hot. Hot enough for your hand to only withstand it for a couple seconds. The gauge is not showing overheating nor are any alarms going off. My motor seems to have an on and off water stream coming from the pee hole and it is mixed with steam. When I get the RPM's higher , the water seems to flow a little more but still not like I am used to seeing on my other outboards I have had. There was some steam but not a lot. I went ahead and shut it down. When I pulled the thermostat cover, the gallery was bone dry.
